If you were on TikTok literally at any time last year, you probably saw these amazing, hot honey high-protein taco bowls, and while it might already be a little bit been there, done that, I still think it’s worth sharing on here!
It’s one of those recipes that’s not really a recipe so much as it is an set of instructions and a list of ingredients, and you can adjust absolutely everything to your own taste. I love having this meal, and so do my boys. They’re not very picky eaters, but I don’t think you have to be especially adventurous to enjoy this meal.
Tailor it to your preference. Sometimes I have more sweet potatoes than beef, or sometimes vice versa. Sometimes it’s a whole avocado per bowl, and sometimes it’s half. And you can go with or without the cottage cheese depending on how picky you are. I do find that it’s a delicious and fresh bite added to the mix, so even if you aren’t a cottage cheese person, give it a try! No matter what, I always smother my entire bowl in honey, though. Even for my kids. We all love the sweet and savory mix.
Anyways. This is great to reheat, and I’ve been known to eat off of one batch for dinner for an entire non-custodial week. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

High-Protein Hot Honey TikTok Taco Bowls
Ingredients
- 1 lb. of ground beef or turkey
- 1 packet of taco seasoning
- 1 small onion, diced (optional)
- 3-4 sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
- olive oil
- Low-fat small curd cottage cheese
- 4-6 avocados
- Melinda’s Hot Honey (infused with chili peppers, DO NOT get the one infused with ghost peppers unless you really like heat)
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 425°Fwhile you prep your sweet potatoes and onions.
- Toss your diced sweet potatoes in a couple of tablespoons of olive oil and spread them out evenly on a sheet pan or two.
- When the oven is preheated, add the sweet potatoes and allow to roast for ~ 25-35. minutes. I usually check for when they’re soft enough that if I press down on them, they squish easily. (Toss halfway through to brown evenly!)
- Add your diced onions and a drizzle of olive oil to a pan over medium heat. Allow them to cook until they’re soft and translucent. (7-10 minutes)
- Add your ground beef and break apart as you brown with your onions. If you’re feeling fancy, remove the onions while you brown your beef, I usually don’t and it tastes great.
- Once your beef is browned, add in the taco seasoning and prepare according to the package. (usually asks you to add some water)
- Then you just assemble your bowls: a scoop of beef, a scoop of cottage cheese, a scoop of potatoes, some sliced avocado, and a healthy drizzle of hot honey!
